As one of the last remaining Works Progress Administration ballparks in the country Wade Stadium is a historic facility that needed extensive improvements. TKDA provided site design and construction services to restore the 1941 stadium for modern needs.
To accommodate winter conditions construction for the project was distributed across two seasonal phases. The first construction phase focused on field upgrades: a new synthetic turf, stormwater management improvements, concrete pavilion areas, new entry plaza, new sports lighting, electrical upgrades to serve the lighting, new scoreboard and increased power demands for stadium special events. The second construction phase stabilized the stadium’s brick shell, tuck-pointing and restoring those surfaces inside and out to preserve the stadium and improve public safety.
