The Capitol Region Watershed District (CRWD) needed to develop a 10-year Capital Improvement Plan and hydraulic analysis of the Trout Brook Interceptor. CRWD commissioned TKDA to complete the study and reconstruct a major segment of the system.
After completing the improvement plan and hydraulic analysis TKDA reconstructed a 240-foot-long segment that had settled approximately 3.5 feet due to soil conditions below the pipe. In addition to preparing the feasibility study and project design TKDA provided construction observation and contract administration services. The reconstruction involved the installation of 32 pile caps on 64 pilings to support the 96-inch diameter pipe on a very tight site between the Burlington Northern Railroad tracks and an adjacent apartment complex.
