The completion of TH 169/I-494 Interchange Design-Build Project required permanent and temporary drainage systems. TKDA provided bridge design, utility coordination and design, water resources engineering, roundabout design and design quality management.
TKDA’s water resources responsibilities included all design and permit preparation for permanent and temporary drainage systems for the new interchange including nine bridges and six multi-lane roundabouts. This included 50,000 feet of storm sewer, 600 catch basins, two nine mile creek culverts, eleven water quality ponds and three infiltration basins. TKDA also designed floodplain mitigation for Nine Mile Creek and SWPPP to account for staging over multiple construction seasons.
