TKDA’s planners and landscape architects helped the City to develop the master plan for redeveloping the area as a transit-oriented district, including identifying future land uses, parks, trails, and innovative approaches to stormwater management. TKDA worked with city staff to obtain a Livable Communities Grant from the Metro Council to fund the implementation of the plan through updates to the City’s Comprehensive Plan and Development Code.
TKDA worked with the Planning Commission and Council to complete a significant update to the City’s Comprehensive Plan, zoning map, zoning and subdivision ordinances to create the tools to support and guide redevelopment in the new Transit-Oriented Zoning District around the Newport Transit Station. TKDA also completed the Design Guidelines for development of the area. As the City’s consulting planner, TKDA is continuing to work with the City to implement the plan and review new development projects proposed in the redevelopment district.
