The Transportation Unit of the Department of Corrections (DOC) has leased multiple properties over the years to store buses and vehicles used for daily operations. These leases have resulted in vehicle storage being dispersed throughout several locations making operations less efficient. TKDA led a study to develop a concept plan for a building that would serve the Unit’s needs and determine a preferred site for the facility. The primary components of the building include a vehicle wash bay suitable for washing both small and large vehicles, drive through storage bays, and miscellaneous office and meeting spaces. Prospective sites were evaluated for constructability and their ability to support the DOC’s Transportation Unit. It was determined that sites existed on each of the correctional facility campuses that would be suitable for the facility. TKDA’s multidiscipline team of professional staff provided comprehensive cost estimating services for the development of the facility, which will be used to determine a preferred site and request funding from the state.
