With a $290M budget, the Hiawatha Corridor Light Rail Transit Project needed the services of a multi-firm team with expertise in a wide range of areas. TKDA joined forces with other nationally known design and construction firms as part of the Minnesota Transit Constructors to complete this major transit project.
TKDA was responsible for the final design of 15 transit stations, a 115,000 SF vehicle maintenance shop, a 47,000 SF vehicle storage building and a remodeling design of an 8,600 SF maintenance-of-way building. To design the transit stations TKDA worked from schematic designs developed by six teams of architects and artists in conjunction with community organizations and civic groups.
