Under the ownership of Ryan Companies, the former Ford Motor Company site in Saint Paul is being repositioned as a premier mixed-use development in the Twin Cities. The site will weave together the existing assets of a dynamic residential neighborhood, a vibrant commercial hub, and the iconic Mississippi River Valley gorge. The defining feature of the site is a water element running from north to south, collecting and channeling stormwater to Hidden Falls Regional Park. Ryan Companies completed conceptual design and engineering for a visible and integrated water feature in the northern and central portions of the site. TKDA’s report applied similar sustainable park design and engineering elements to the site’s southern portion between Montreal Avenue and Mississippi River Boulevard. It will assist Ryan Companies, the City of Saint Paul, and Capitol Region Watershed District in selecting a solution that cost-effectively collects and moves water in a more natural hydrologic condition to Hidden Falls while providing environmental and social value to the community.
