TKDA improved efficiency with versatile new switchgear design for critical facilities in Hennepin County
To improve efficiency Hennepin County needed to replace an overused metal-enclosed switchgear lineup and the associated medium voltage distribution system that served five separate facilities. TKDA’s design allowed Hennepin County to run separate equipment and feeders to each of the facilities.
The new plan included three new switchgear lineups, two of which were under this project. Due to the critical operation of three of the facilities (hospital, energy center and research/teaching facility) TKDA made provisions for limited duration outages, redundant backup power and outage planning sessions and documentation.
