As a subconsultant on a series of major hospital campus projects TKDA provided site design and engineering services to the La Crosse campus of Gundersen Lutheran Hospital. TKDA’s projects included civil and site design for: a parking ramp, a renovation of the Stukins Building into a data center, power plant upgrades and a six-story hospital addition. Extensive coordination was required with the architect, Gundersen Lutheran Hospital and the City of La Crosse.
To complete this wide range of projects TKDA designed site access, grading plans, relocation of a 30” diameter storm sewer, extension of a sanitary sewer and watermain, providing sewer and water services, design of a stormwater lift station, design of rain garden, street, sidewalk and driveway improvements, design of a pedestrian underpass across a street and railroad track, review of geothermal heat pump system and design of well field; extension of chilled water lines, and surface restoration including both jacking and horizontal directionally drilling. In addition, TKDA provided preliminary design and cost estimate for a potential realignment of the BNSF Railway tracks near the hospital in order to complete the renovation.
