BNSF Railway Company (BNSF) needed a wide range of services to complete the double track expansion on the Glasgow Subdivision between Minot, North Dakota and Snowden, Montana. TKDA provided extensive design, permitting and construction management services to complete this project.
The design included approximately 70 miles of new track, universal crossovers, setout track, bridge structures, access roads, signal pads, turnout pads, public/private road crossings, culverts, inter-track drains and ditches. TKDA designed 15 new bridges which typically matched the hydraulic opening of the adjacent existing bridges. Construction management services included field observation, surveying, shop drawing review, storm water pollution prevention plan (SWPPP) management and quantity management for contractor pay requests. TKDA also completed surveying, wetland delineation of 300 basins, cultural resources inventory and obtained 2 individual and 4 nationwide US Army Corps of Engineers Section 404 permits.
