TKDA provided a “five year” plan and successive designs to Honeywell for correcting and upgrading their medium and low voltage power distribution system. TKDA’s designs included plans to add a new dual fed MV selector switch to serve a new 3,000-ton rated electric chiller building and to remove several aged PILC and XLP cables.
During the multi-year design process, one of the medium voltage radial feeders was modified and several unit substations were replaced. Other tasks included power system analysis for short circuit, protective device coordination, and arc flash; upgrade of the medium voltage service power circuit breaker electro-mechanical relays to GE Multilin 750 electronic relays; addition of several power meters to unit substations; and the addition of required electrical room access doors.
