Rochester Public Utilities continues to benefit from a facility TKDA designed to be efficient, resilient, and people focused nearly four decades ago. The 115,000 SF service center brought all staff under one roof and introduced sustainable strategies well ahead of industry norms, including a five-mile geothermal loop, in slab mass stored heating, and ice bank cooling. A tornado resistant command center, in floor heated vehicle storage, and CO₂ triggered ventilation systems ensured resiliency and safety. Daylighting strategies, skylit circulation, and exterior views created a comfortable workplace that employees still value today. The building remains a testament to progressive design, and TKDA continues to apply that same forward-looking approach in our current partnerships with utilities.
