TKDA Awards Two U of M Scholarships
TKDA, a Saint Paul based engineering, architecture and planning firm, recently awarded two scholarships to help fund the education of University of Minnesota students pursuing a degree in engineering or architecture.
One of this year’s recipients of the TKDA scholarship is Rachelle Hallberg, an architecture student from Lindstrom, Minn., and a freshman at the University of Minnesota Twin Cities.
“I always knew I wanted to be an architect,” said Hallberg.
She said she chose the U of M because she liked the fact the College of Design is a small community within the University. “I have all the opportunities with a large university, but I study and live in a small setting,” said Hallberg.
TKDA also awarded a scholarship to Matthew McDermott, a civil engineering student at the University of Minnesota Duluth.
“I am extremely grateful and excited to be awarded the UMD TKDA Engineering Scholarship this year,” said McDermott from Inver Grove Heights, Minn. “The award will certainly help me complete my academic and professional goals.”
McDermott plans to attend graduate school and earn his masters of science in structural engineering.
“We are proud to help University of Minnesota students as they pursue their studies in the engineering and architectural fields,” said Bill Deitner, TKDA’s President and CEO. “Rachelle and Matthew are well-deserving of the scholarships, and we look forward to watching their careers unfold after graduation.”
