Richard Parr’s expertise expands TKDA’s water/wastewater group
Richard Parr, PE, a project manager with almost two decades of experience in delivering large water and wastewater projects, has joined TKDA’s Municipal Division as senior registered engineer.
Richard has delivered a broad range of water and wastewater projects throughout the Midwest and East Coast to a variety of clients, including small municipalities and large water/wastewater agencies. These projects have included planning services, facility performance evaluations, design, permitting, and construction contract administration. His wastewater experience has included treatment process evaluations and upgrades on plants as small as 0.6 million gallons per day (mgd) and as large as 72 mgd using treatment methods ranging from conventional treatment to biological nutrient removal.
For the Western Lake Superior Sanitary District’s Wastewater Treatment Facility in Duluth, he served as project manager and resident project representative during construction for the conversion of the plant’s steam boiler heating system to a hot water heating system, which included the installation of new natural gas and biogas boilers. For the Metropolitan Water Reclamation District of Greater Chicago, he led the preliminary design of the Lemont Pump Station, Sewer Pipelines, and Reservoir Project, which included 11 miles of dual force main and a 5-million-gallon wet weather equalization basin, 7 mgd wet-weather treatment facility, and 17.5 mgd wastewater pump station.
His experience in delivering large wastewater treatment plants, lift stations, and force main projects will help TKDA, an employee-owned provider of engineering, architecture, and planning services, strategically grow its capabilities in these areas.
He received a Bachelor of Science in civil and environmental engineering from the University of Michigan and a Master of Science in civil engineering with a water quality engineering emphasis from Georgia Institute of Technology. He is licensed in Minnesota and Illinois.
“Richard brings a wealth of experience and leadership successes to our water and wastewater team,” said John Berrigan Jr., TKDA’s water/wastewater group manager. “We look forward to extending and strengthening our capabilities in this important area.”
