Rail Unloading Building

TKDA Used Efficient Design for an Important New Rail Unloading Building

This food client needed a new rail unloading building at their Suffolk, Virginia facility. TKDA completed the preliminary design, final design, and construction services of the new 5,740 SF facility. With a relatively small site to work with, TKDA needed to design the building and track efficiently to meet the requirements of the project. The 2,975 feet of track to the new unloading building also had to cross an existing wetland and creek. Using an 8-foot by 8-foot box culvert, TKDA designed the crossing to maintain the required discharge. TKDA’s site work included grading and drainage, erosion and sediment control, utilities, landscaping, and permitting.
