With no available hangar space, the Morris Municipal Airport was forced to turn away prospective tenants and could not provide transient storage for aircraft. Flanked on two sides by runways and on the third side by a state highway, the airport had few options for expansion. To overcome these obstacles, Morris Municipal Airport hired TKDA for the design of a new hangar.
TKDA designed a new 110’ x 80’ hangar, taxi lane extension and apron construction. The hangar included in-floor heat, energy-efficient lighting and an 80’x 18’ bi-fold door. The project cost was approximately $880,000 including engineering, testing and construction. More than 90 percent of the overall project cost was covered by state and federal funding.
