To meet domestic water and fire demands, Crown College needed major water supply improvements including a new second water supply well. The college selected TKDA to provide design and construction services for the new well, rehabilitation of their existing water plant, the addition of a 300,000 gallon ground storage reservoir and new booster station.
The $2.1M construction project allows the college to meet current and future water demands as well as fire demands required to protect the campus. The project included a natural gas generator that provides firm pumping capacity. The new water treatment plant has the capacity to deliver 230,000 gpd. The booster pumps can deliver 1,400-1,600 gpm for fire protection. The system storage volume is now greater than the recommended volume of the average daily water demand plus fire protection.
