Merced Second Amtrak Platform

TKDA completed engineering design and construction management services of a new 600-foot platform at the existing Amtrak Station in Merced, CA. This project was coordinated by BNSF with funding from the California Department of Transportation (Caltrans). The project scope included a new passenger platform, hand railing, lighting, signage, and intertrack fencing. The platform design required a shallow pier foundation system adjacent to the existing track to minimize impacts on the active rail corridor and potential shoring cost impacts to the project.
