TKDA Remodels Community Based Outreach Clinic to Care for Varying Needs

The addition to and remodel of the Ely Economic Development Building accommodates a new 8,050 SF Community Based Outreach Clinic (CBOC) for the Department of Veteran Affairs (VA). This Minnesota Iron Range outpatient clinic houses the advanced medical equipment required to effectively care for the varying needs and abilities of military veterans. TKDA worked closely with the VA to design a clean and safe environment reflecting the warmth of this small wilderness community near the Canadian border. The facility includes a reception and waiting area, six exam rooms, an outpatient procedure room, telemedicine and teleconferencing capabilities, a full-service clinic lab, workrooms, conference/classrooms, and support space for patients and staff. The project used a Design-Build delivery method with the design group and Construction Manager at Risk working in tandem.
