Chestnut Street Plaza

The Chestnut Street Plaza transformed a key connection between downtown Stillwater and the historic Lift Bridge into a vibrant public space designed for people. What was once a traditional street is now a pedestrian- and bicycle-focused destination that supports community events, outdoor gathering, and everyday recreation while preserving the character that makes Stillwater unique. Working closely with the City of Stillwater, the Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT), Washington County, local businesses, and community members, TKDA helped create a welcoming civic space that strengthens connections to the St. Croix River, supports downtown vitality, and celebrates the city’s historic identity.
