Luis Garcia to inspire the next generation of civil engineers

Luis Garcia, a registered engineer in TKDA’s rail division, will teach at California Polytechnic State University. He is teaching the Structural Testing Laboratory, where students perform experiments on small-scale models to illustrate structural engineering principles. He believes it is important for students to see how crucial it is for civil engineers to understand the behavior of structures under earthquake loading to prevent future catastrophic damage to buildings.

Luis’ experience at TKDA will help prepare students for their future jobs by sharing various project experiences. He often shares challenges he faces in day-to-day operations so students can learn from his experiences.

Luis will teach Engineering Statics in the fall, another foundational class for civil engineering students.
