Community Turns out for Groundbreaking for New Schools in Hermantown
The community of Hermantown turned out for the groundbreaking celebration for the new Middle School and High School in Hermantown, Minn.
The approximately $32.5 million project includes converting the existing High School into a Middle School and constructing a new High School as an addition to create a unified campus for both school populations. Some shared features include the new auditorium, music suite, entrances and bus corridors. Work on the site has already begun and will continue through the upcoming school year, with completion of the entire project slated for fall 2016.
The community of Hermantown passed a $48 million referendum in 2013 to fund these improvements, as well as a large renovation project for the Elementary School, which has been ongoing since last October and will be complete for the start of school this fall.
