Rendering of Seattle Locomotive Shop

Amtrak to build new locomotive shop designed by TKDA

Construction is beginning on a new Amtrak locomotive shop in Seattle, a $28 million facility that TKDA completed several phases of its design. In 2011, the TKDA rail team was selected to complete the programming and develop a scope and concept layout for the building. TKDA design staff took the design to 100 percent construction documents for the 24,000 SF locomotive shop which includes a 125-ton drop table and a 55-ton overhead bridge crane. Construction is expected to be complete in 2019.
