Winona Snow Removal Equipment Building

TKDA optimizes snow equipment storage with strategic planning and design at Winona Airport

When the Winona Municipal Airport required a storage building for Snow Removal Equipment (SRE) and sand, TKDA coordinated with City officials and the FAA to identify the optimal location. The selected location balanced functionality, proximity to existing public utilities, impacts on navigational aids, integration with surrounding buildings, and cost. TKDA prepared several architectural concepts from which the City officials and City Council identified preferred alternatives. TKDA carefully coordinated the final design with the FAA and MnDOT Aeronautics for maximized funding eligibility.

The SRE Building has over 3,100 SF of enclosed, heated space and features two vehicle/equipment bays and a partial bay for indoor sand storage. Supporting features include mechanical and electrical rooms, a storage mezzanine for maximized use of interior space, and two public restrooms.
