With significant growth in transit ridership along Cedar Avenue, the overwhelmed Apple Valley Transit Station needed major restoration and expansion. After reviewing feasible expansion options, TKDA recommended acquisition of the Watsons retail store located on a 10-acre site across the street from the station.
TKDA prepared plans for demolishing existing structures and developing a 300-car parking lot on the newly acquired site. TKDA’s demolition specification called for recycling and salvaging 50 percent (by weight) of the total waste generated. The development of the new parking lot which included paving, curb and gutter construction, parking lot lighting and parking lot striping, met the increasing ridership needs of the area.
