TKDA's Derailment Recovery Response Team helps get track systems back in service quickly and correctly
TKDA’s Derailment Recovery Response Team provides continuous services for BNSF Railway Company (BNSF). This team is dispatched anywhere on the BNSF system on short notice to assist in recovering from derailments and restoring rail service to the line.
The response team works closely with the Division Engineers and Roadmasters at the scene. TKDA crews use Global Positioning Systems whenever possible to take existing alignment data and stake the reconstructed alignment. This permits the Recovery Response Team to be more mobile and work around spilled freight, tipped rail cars, reconstruction crews and their equipment. When a derailment occurs, TKDA dispatches a two-person crew which is generally on the scene within 8 hours.
