TKDA designed a 7,310 GSF building adjacent to the Town Hall to serve as the Fire Hall in Superior, Wisconsin. The facility’s five apparatus bays have 14’-0” overhead doors, point-of-origin vehicle exhaust system, and electrical and compressed air connections. Other features include a decontamination shower, a decontamination room, accessible shower rooms, a gear locker storage room with under-locker ventilation, an office, a laundry room, and SCBA clean fill room. Sustainability features include a heat recovery system, LED lighting, low VOC emitting building materials, and continuous building envelope insulation. TKDA sought efficient, cost-effective design solutions and worked with the general contractor on value-engineering solutions that satisfied all stakeholders.
