The City of New Hope wanted to redevelop its City Center area surrounding Rockford Road and Winnetka Avenue in order to foster redevelopment, integrate housing and a variety of commercial uses and add amenities to benefit the whole community. TKDA completed a Transit-Oriented Planning and Design Study to guide the redevelopment of this area.
TKDA facilitated joint meetings with the Planning Commission and City Council over the course of a year to create the vision for the redevelopment. TKDA landscape architects, planners and engineers worked as a multi-disciplinary team to create designs for streetscape, transit, roadways and pedestrian and bicycle facilities that support the redevelopment of commercial, residential and recreational land to create a lively center. TKDA also led the public involvement efforts including three meetings with local businesses, two open house meetings with adjacent neighborhoods and a public hearing.
