To better meet the Minnesota State Fair’s mission of making connections to the agricultural roots of our society, they wanted a new facility highlighting the animal birth experience. TKDA provided the architectural and engineering services for the new Miracle of Birth Building designed to enhance the Fair experience for visitors of all ages.
The 20,000 SF facility takes its design cues from rural agricultural structures. The facility features a post frame building display area; an energy-efficient, insulated panel system for office, meetings and rest room spaces; and a symbolic silo structure that also serves as a visitor entrance. Solar panels on the roof provide part of the building’s electrical requirements and offer educational opportunities for illustrating sustainable design technologies.
