To keep up with demand, the Southwest Airlines glycol deicing facility at Chicago Midway International Airport needed to be relocated and expanded. TKDA provided engineering and architectural design services to complete this airport project.
TKDA prepared the site by removing approximately 2,100 SY of concrete paving and relocating approximately 160 feet of 12-inch diameter storm sewer pipe. The project included relocation of the tank farm, including a 12,000-gallon above-ground tank, an offloading station, blender stations and two islands with load stations for dispensing glycol to deicing trucks. TKDA also provided permitting and construction administration services and coordination with the City of Chicago Department of Buildings and Water Management.
