The City of Mendota Heights wanted to evaluate a potential warming house at Wentworth Avenue Park. The park has seasonal ice hockey boards that are flooded each year for skating and pick-up hockey games. TKDA assisted the City in building a budget for the project as well as creating visioning imagery of what the warming house could be. The small building has space for gathering, a single occupant restroom, water fountain, and storage of recreational equipment for year-round activities. TKDA studied three simple building forms, each utilizing natural, long-lasting materials in various design styles. The wood-framed structure would be designed in a manner allowing for efficient construction techniques, thus keeping project costs within budget.
