A North American taconite pellet producer needed a new concentrate dryer to optimize production. TKDA provided engineering technical support for the replacement of the existing concentrate dryer.
TKDA performed a structural analysis of the existing dryer support structure and a finite element analysis of the vendor-proposed new dryer shell to confirm the “new” thinner steel shell was adequate for operation and structural integrity. After completing these analyses TKDA defined the horsepower requirements for the new dryer drive system package. Drawing from extensive knowledge of dryer systems TKDA analyzed the existing dryer operational control practices and offered insight for areas of potential improvement.
