This new pedestrian bridge carries users of the popular Hardwood Creek Regional Trail safely over County Road 83 (SW 11th Avenue) in Forest Lake. The multi-use trail has over 230,000 users annually, prompting the County to eliminate the at-grade crossing at this busy road. The trail currently runs on 10 miles of abandoned rail line from Hugo to the Washington County-Chisago County line, where it links with the Sunrise Prairie Trail in Chisago County. The new bridge is open to all trail users, including runners, bikers, horseback riders and snowmobilers. Additionally it provides improved access to the downtown district. The bridge design is a single-span modified bow truss. The main span is 130 feet with a 12-foot width to accommodate snowmobiles.
