In order to better serve its commercial areas the City of Columbus needed to establish public utility services along the I-35 corridor. TKDA provided complete utility master planning to serve the three square mile corridor with sanitary sewer and water.
TKDA’s master planning included predicting sewage flows, water demand, fire flows, sewer and water pipe sizes, lift station, well and elevated tank locations and a phasing plan. In the completed master plan TKDA recommended a system of six lift stations, gravity sewer pipes and force mains. The water system consisted of a watermain, two 1,250 gpm capacity wells and two 500,000-gallon elevated tanks.
