TKDA designed and prepared construction documents for a 91,000 SF administrative office building at the Flint Hills Resources Refinery in Rosemount, Minnesota. This three-story building provides work and collaborative spaces for 225 people.
As visitors enter the building their focus is immediately taken to the central staircase that serves both as an impressive design feature as well as the main vertical circulation spine in the building. The gently sloping site allows for a pedestrian entrance, truck dock and view glazing on the back side of the lower level. The building includes 18 conference rooms and 11 kitchenettes. The main floor includes the glazed main entrance and reception desk. The upper level includes a multi-purpose room with dividers for reconfiguring the space into three separate meeting rooms. In addition to providing all the building engineering TKDA provided site/civil engineering services for the construction of the North Administration Building.
The building islocated on the north end of the main refinery and impacted 13 acres of the 210-acre refinery site. TKDA’s site/civil engineering design services included site grading, stormwater management, traffic impact assessment, parking and site access and utilities.
