John Doerr joins TKDA aviation team
Aviation planner John Doerr has joined the TKDA Aviation Division.
John has experience in airport planning and development for a wide array of medium and large airports located in Florida, Georgia, New Jersey, Maryland, Massachusetts, Pennsylvania, and California. His expertise includes gate planning, the simulation of aircraft taxiing and ground service equipment operations, preparation of airport layout plans (ALP), and planning of general aviation facilities.
Doerr served as lead junior planner on a general aviation improvement program for John Wayne Airport in Santa Ana, California. He coordinated stakeholder meetings and worked on achieving compliance with FAA operation requirements for the Customs and Border Protection, corporate hangar, and fixed base operator facilities designs.
Other recent projects have included using county GIS records to generate a land use and property map for the Palm Beach International Airport ALP update; simulation of apron tug operations for ground support equipment to verify proof of concept for a new luggage system at Orlando International Airport; and support of Baltimore/Washington International Thurgood Marshall Airport’s master plan update, including new cargo city analysis, short-term gate planning, and airport traffic control tower line of sight studies.
John earned a Bachelor of Science in aviation management from Florida Institute of Technology.
“We are very happy to add John to our growing team of aviation planners who are assisting our clients with airport and airline projects in Minnesota and across the country,” said John Ahern, vice president of the TKDA Aviation Division.
