Connecting Commuter Agencies to Class I Tracks

At TKDA, we help commuter agencies and freight rail work together to achieve incredible outcomes. We are proud to serve the rail industry for more than 115 years including freight carriers, commuter, and transit agencies.

Success Stories

Our longevity with clients reflects the enduring partnerships we forge and our dedication to quality, responsiveness, safety, and innovative solutions. With a proven history of solving complexities and creating lasting client relationships, our legacy in the rail industry speaks for itself.

Merced Second Amtrak Platform

TKDA completed design and construction management services of a new 600-foot platform at an existing Amtrak Station, which included a new passenger platform, hand railing, lighting, signage, and intertrack fencing. The platform design required a shallow pier foundation system adjacent to the existing track to minimize impacts on the active rail corridor and potential shoring cost impacts to the project.

Ono Lead Extension

TKDA provided engineering design and construction management services for the extension of the Lead Track from the Ono Yard to the San Bernardino Intermodal Facility. This project increases the ability to assemble and hold outbound trains, as well as reduces switching time obstructing mainline movements. This project will resolve the train congestion along the busy freight and passenger corridor.

Double Track Expansion

When BNSF needed a double-track expansion on the Glasgow Subdivision, TKDA provided design and construction management services. The design included 70 miles of new track, 15 new bridges that matched the hydraulic opening of the existing bridges, universal crossovers, setout track, bridge structures, access roads, signal pads, turnout pads, public/private road crossings, culverts, inter-track drains, and ditches.

King County Metro Condition Assessments

TKDA provides multidisciplinary services for King County, including condition assessments, nondestructive testing, and system inspection services for King County Metro Transit Division to report on the State of Good Repair of facilities and infrastructure. The program is an effective way to compare the importance of a varied and extensive list of recommendations across various facilities and infrastructure.

Metro Transit

Since 2001, TKDA has partnered with Metro Transit to design, construct, expand, and maintain a wide range of operations and maintenance facilities, including control centers, bus infrastructure facilities, park-and-rides, transit hubs, and commuter rail infrastructure. This work is imperative to support the growth and reliability of this Twin Cities-based transit system.
