The Lower Phalen Creek Bike and Pedestrian Trail provides the final link for 40 miles of continuous regional trail on the east side of Saint Paul. Right-of-way constraints, poor drainage and high water table combined with physical limitations on lane widths and vertical clearances, required innovative, yet practical solutions in this railroad-laced edge of Saint Paul. As part of the City’s East Side revitalization efforts, the 1.5 mile trail was designed to meet the functional requirements of bicyclists and pedestrians while at the same time celebrate the rich culture and history of the area.
